Training the dog to perform different social roles

Education/Training

Different breeds of dogs have different qualities that allow them to help us humans, not only to be our company and bring us pleasure with their presence. Dogs can also "work".

Dogs that have agility skills can be trained by specialized trainers, just like you. Equipment for the sport of agility can be purchased at pet stores. In addition to the fact that this type of activity maintains the physical shape of your dog, it also stimulates its mind and brings it closer to you. If you become a good tandem, there are competitions in which you can participate.

And, have you heard of Frisbee Dog? This is an extremely interesting sport in which the Owners throw a disc, the so-called Frisbee, and the dogs have to catch it in the air. Yes, in the air! The team consists of a dog and its Owner in a standard throwing and catching competition. Points are awarded for shooting a Frisbee at different distances for a certain period of time. The competitions also include fast freestyle, which includes short choreographed performances combined with music and numerous game discs.

Dogs can also participate in exhibitions. Exhibitions are usually for purebred dogs, and include a look at their characteristics, the breed they represent.

The so-called working dogs are dogs that are trained to assist in the work of various state and non-state services - police, fire, civil defense, mountain service and others. They are trained to perform specific tasks. The training includes tracking, drug detection, protection, search and rescue of people and animals and many others.

There are also therapy-trained dogs. These dogs are trained to provide support and comfort to people in various settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools and even airports. These dogs are quiet, calm and loving towards people.

Dogs trained to help people with vision problems are of exceptional benefit to our society. We will offer you a separate article about them, which you can follow.

Of course, we cannot fail to mention problem dogs. Some dogs have behavior problems, regardless of the efforts we have made for their upbringing and socialization. Trainers can help when the dog's behavior is based on fears that cause aggression and destructive behavior. They will develop a strategy, identify the cause and develop an appropriate approach to changing this problem behavior.

The key to successful training is patience, but not only that, consistency and a positive attitude are needed too.
